Tunerzine.com Announces Project Toyota Prius Hybrid

To usher in a new era of hybrid tuning and customization, Tunerzine.com has teamed up with its partners in order to showcase what can be done to the ever-popular Toyota Prius.  The project will consist of tasteful, functional modifications that will not impact the daily drivability of the Toyota Prius.  Most importantly, it's not a project with a long list of custom modifications, but rather products any Prius enthusiast can get their hands on.

Starting off the project is a render courtesy of Gurnade.  Tunerzine.com sat down with Josh Cloud and his team of talented designers to mix-and-match parts to determine what would look best on the project Prius without going overboard.  The result is something that everyone involved will be proud of.

Toyota Celica + Ferrari = Cerrari?

We gotta hand to the tuning industry.  Just when we thought we've seen it all, we run across something entirely new that blows us away.  Signal Auto out in Indonesia took a seventh-gen Toyota Celica, invested 18 months of hard work into it to make an...interesting Ferrari F430 replica.  We won't lie, we're not a fan of the whole idea of taking a Celica and making it look like a Ferrari, but we have to give a ton of credit to the guys at Signal Auto for doing such a great job on the conversion.

According to the source, every panel was handmade rather than sourcing OEM Ferrari parts and the craftsmanship is really impressive.  The end result is definitely something worth taking a look at, even if it's not your cup of tea.

I admit I spend a lot of time lurking on forums and blogs just looking for nice cars to look at.  It probably goes back to the days where I had to scour everywhere looking for potential feature cars for Modified Magazine.  So maybe it's habit, or maybe I just like looking at nice, modified cars.  So here's just a random collection of cars I ran across on the Web today - plenty more after the jump.  Feel free to leave a comment with a link to something you think should deserve the spotlight!

Just spotted this pic of a new kit from Wald for the new Toyota Prius, and I gotta ask what is going on here?  The front does not even look like the original car anymore and there are just too many vents...  Sorry but this is a big fail from Wald.

Toyota just announced details for it's new Plug in Prius yesterday at the LA Auto show.  Toyota has released a video along with the announcment.  In this video toyota explores the technical aspects of start-up, cruising, acceleration, deceleration, as well as our new high-efficiency charging system, new HV battery, power control ECU, and plug-in remote A/C system.  Watch the video after the break.  For more info on the Plug in Prius check out http://www.priusphv.com/

Titan Prep Continues for NSCRA final

Titan announced last month that they will be making an appearance at the NSCRA final race Dec 6 at the Palm Beach International Raceway.  The titan Supra is currently undergoing a complete update from its 5yr old technology to today's standard.  All the new wiring is going into the car, plus a new race head is going on very soon.  Cant wait to see what the titan guys will be able to pull off at the race!

ASI Prius Update

We posted about ASI's new Prius project a few months ago, which will feature a complete new bodykit.  ASI has released a teaser photo showing the back bumper taking shape.  They are still tweaking the front so no pictures yet.  They have announced that they will be working on a rear wing for the car and some new vertical LED lights and signal lights.  Should definitely be interesting!

Jeff Creech: Import Tuner Cover Shoot

Jeff Creech is an old friend of ours and we are excited to see how far he has come with his photography work over the years.  Most recently he did a cover shoot for Import Tuner magazine featuring Accelerated Performance's beautiful Supra.  Creech was fortunate enough to have an all access pass to a local drag track, where the Supra looks right at home.  Stunning lighting captured the perfect burnout shot for the cover while some creativity with the rig shots really makes for a complete shoot.  I also had to post up an engine shoot, Creech did a fantastic job exposing the highly blinged out engine bay.  More shots after the break, great job Jeff!

I have been following Sean Klingelhoefer blog lately and have been very impressed by some of the photoshop work he does.  It's amazing how much work goes into post processing, and the results are just stunning.  Sean Klingelhoefer shot this pic of a Toyota Yaris, and was not too happy with the outcome so he turned to photoshop to get the pic he wanted.  He even added some spice to it by changing out the wall color..  Which one do you like the best?  Check out his post for complete info on the process.

Tuned Toyota FT86

The Toyota FT-86 has just been revealed to the public and it hasn't taken too long for tuners to take it into their own hands to modify it to their taste.  The car has not been released by Toyota yet, so the only for of tuning is through Photoshop.  Check out these 2 renderings, looks like it might be a hit if Toyota actually brings it into production.  One more rendering after the break.

7Tune reader Ken (aka K) was kind enough to drop us a line about the new Toyota FT-86 Concept and some high resolution photos currently flying around the internet and to be honest, we were caught sleeping! Usually the rumors slow down towards the Tokyo Motor Show which will be held later this month so it’s great to see Toyota jumping the gun and providing official images of the long awaited concept. For those who can read Japanese, Toyota Metapolis also has a debut event for the FT-86 on October 23rd.
