Aston Martin's two top-of-the-range sports cars; the DBS and V12 Vantage have undergone a unique Carbon Black makeover to create a highly desirable special edition.

Aston Martin Special Edition Carbon Black

Celebrating the enormous success of the DBS and V12 Vantage which have surpassed all sales expectations since launch, the new special editions add a typically understated flair to these acclaimed models. Featuring bespoke Carbon Black metallic paint especially formulated with a subtle metallic twist to create a deep rich patina. Each car will undergo 50 man-hours of hand painting followed by stringent quality checks. For the V12 Vantage the iconic Aston Martin side strake has been fashioned from real carbon fibre backed by a black mesh and complimented with gloss black 10 spoke diamond turned alloy wheels. A bright finished grille and front parking sensors (normally an option) complete the exterior detailing.

Lotus Exige Scura Special Edition

Lotus Cars unveils its latest special edition - the Exige Scura, so called due to its dramatic matt black and carbon fibre theme, at the Tokyo International Motorshow on 21st of October 2009.

Translated as ‘dark' from Italian, the name ‘Scura' reflects the stealth character of this already fierce looking Lotus and its stunning soft-feel matt black paint finish. Limited to just 35 cars globally, this Exige evokes a desire to ‘indulge your dark side'. This is a serious looking car and enhancements to performance and a reduction in weight from the production level Exige S means that the Exige Scura demands to be driven by a serious driver.

I don't think I will ever get tired of the matte look, everytime I see a Matte I find myself saying wow.  This M5 is no exception, seen here adorned in BASF matte finish and complemented by a sweet set of iForged VIP Fabulous wheels in Hyper Black Centers and Gloss Black lip.  More pics from this sweet shoot after the break.

Matte Black Audi S5/A5

Spotted these Audi S5 and A5's in Jon Sibals Murder She Wrote Posts, which features a Reiger bodykit and finished in a matte finish.  Wheels are also finished in black but are given a gloss finish for some contrast.  Definitely something that will make you go wow if you saw one on the streets, I would!  More pics after the break.

JM Photography: 2007 C6 Z06

Black cars are always a bit harder to photograph since it's difficult to capture all the lines of the car.  But JM had no issues in capturing the lines when he did a photoshoot on his friend's 2007 C6 Z06.  A follow up photoshoot will come to capture more details, since he ran out of daylight.  Cant wait to see what comes next.  More pics after the break.

Every day it seems like we run across bigger and better cars that are nicely built and captures our attention.  This E92 M3 sports what appears to be a modified stock bumper to incorporate Amuse Ericsson's styling to it.  The matte black finish along with a nice set of wheels really sets the tone for this build.  We can't wait to see more from it.  A couple more snaps after the break.

Matte Black Fad?

I have been noticing lots of matte cars showing up lately, so I decided to do a quick search to see what I can find in matte black.  With a quick search through Flickr, you will find hundreds and hundreds of cars dressed in matte black.  Everything from Hot Rods to Bentleys s painted in flat black.  I have to admit on some cars it does look very nice!  So is this the new awesomeness or just a fad?  Leave your thoughts in the comments.  More examples after the jump.
